What if I'm Not a Trafficking Victim?
Call us anyway. A large number of the people we assist are not trafficked, but exploited. Many are in the life because they feel they have no other choice - they must continue to sell their bodies through commercial sex, strip clubs, or porn to have money for food, shelter, and basic survival. We want to help you escape that desperation and get back on your feet.
We also help those who are considered high-risk for sex trafficking. This includes the homeless, desperately poor, or abused. My Refuge City provides 24/7 assistance and support to women working in adult entertainment and we act as a resource for high-risk women and children living in poverty.
What if I'm Not in North Carolina?
Call us anyway. If we cannot safely reach you or transport you to our campus, we will connect you with a partner agency in your state who can give you the assistance you need.
Will you report me to police?
We keep everything you share in confidence. It's our firm stance that women working in prostitution are victims - period. They are not criminals. They do not choose this. Even if they are working independently, something happened to drive them to the life. We're not interested in punishing you for your lifestyle - we want to help you get on the road to healing.
What if I just need help with bills?
Call the hotline and let's talk about it. We have a lot of resources in the community and can connect you with agencies that help with emergency expenses. We'll do everything we can to help you.
I can't call because someone is here listening. Calling would put me in danger. How can I get help?
Can you send a text to our hotline? If you can get us the address of where you are and let us know what's happening, we'll try to find a safe way to get you out.
I'm on drugs. Can you help me?
Yes! We can connect you with detox and drug treatment centers that can help you get clean in a safe environment.
Do you help gay or transgender people?
Absolutely! We will help anyone regardless of sexual orientation, gender identity, race, or religious beliefs. In fact, we are working hard to build resources specifically for LGBTQ victims of sex trafficking.
